Creating Opportunities for Independence, Growth, and Inclusion

The Arc of St. Johns supports individuals, both children (ages 5-18) and adults (18+), with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). One of the most impactful services is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, a research-based and highly respected intervention that assists individuals with developmental and behavioral challenges. Conducted by certified professionals, sessions may take place at a community center, in a client’s home, or through after-school programs to ensure accessibility and convenience.

ABA therapy is available for children as young as two, as well as adults, addressing conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, brain injuries, and other developmental concerns. Since this service is typically covered by insurance, families can access it at little or no cost, making it both practical and widely available.

The Adult Day Training Program serves over 80 participants, offering opportunities for socialization, skill development, and self-expression. In this program, individuals practice problem-solving, listening, and communication skills while participating in adult education, computer training, gardening, art, and other creative activities.

Behavioral Health Programs and Employment Opportunities

The Behavioral Health Program at The Arc of St. Johns extends support to both children and adults who have diagnoses such as Autism, ADHD, brain injuries, and other behavioral or developmental challenges. Services include counseling, job skills training, communication development, conflict resolution, visitation programs, and anti-bullying initiatives.

Designed for children aged 5 through 18 and adults aged 18 and older, the program helps individuals strengthen their relationships, improve their mental health, and build resilience. To qualify, participants must be enrolled in Florida Medicaid, have access to transportation, and demonstrate the ability to follow structured programming.

Employment Services provide another pathway to independence, pairing individuals with certified employment coaches who guide them through the process of finding and maintaining their positions. These coaches offer specialized training, connect individuals with job opportunities, and help ensure that participants are prepared not only to achieve their employment goals but also to build positive relationships in the workplace and the broader community.

Specialized Centers and Supportive Living Opportunities

For those requiring more comprehensive daily support, the Residential Care Program operates eleven homes throughout St. Johns County. These homes provide nursing care, rehabilitation, speech therapy, behavioral assistance, and a nurturing environment where individuals can feel safe and supported. Complementing this program, Supported Living Services are designed for individuals who seek greater independence. Participants are encouraged to pursue individualized goals, practice daily living skills, and maintain a lifestyle that is both healthy and purposeful.

Beyond these core programs, The Arc of St. Johns operates specialized centers that further enrich the lives of participants. The Beaches Center provides psycho-social rehabilitation, music therapy, individual and group counseling, behavioral analysis, cooking, arts and crafts, personal care, and other supportive activities that promote growth and creativity.

The Community Campus extends opportunities for employment preparation, educational programs, volunteer service, home and garden projects, and social interaction with peers, creating a hub for connection and community integration. Lastly, the Therapeutic Learning Center, a free charter school funded by the St. Johns County School District, offers children ages two and a half to five with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental conditions an encouraging academic setting where they can thrive.
