Providing Insight into Diverse Ecosystems

Bird Island Park is the first park travelers encounter when heading south along the Scenic A1A Byway. Its welcoming entrance gazebo opens to a gently winding trail that guides visitors through tranquil water features and native hammock landscapes.

This thoughtfully designed trail offers a glimpse into the rich ecosystems of Northeast Florida, showcasing native flora and fauna that reflect the region's natural beauty. One of the park's features is the hedged sea turtle maze, which provides a shaded, peaceful space for exploration.

At the maze's center, visitors can relax on one of four art-adorned benches nestled beneath trees.

Child-Friendly and Easily Accessible

Adding to its charm, Bird Island Park includes a storytelling area with benches and a small amphitheater. Decorated with colorful mosaic tiles and shaded by trees, this area invites families and groups to gather and engage in community events or quiet reflection.

A boardwalk loops around the park's pond, offering scenic views of Bird Island at its center, access to a second gazebo by the water, and a playful space designed for children. For accessibility, a handicapped-friendly sidewalk winds throughout the park, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy its natural and artistic offerings easily. Leashed dogs are allowed.
