Focusing on Fun and Inclusion
Founded in 2011, Field of Dreams Baseball (FOD) is a proud member of the Creeks Athletic Association (CAA) and provides children ages five and up with exceptionalities the opportunity to play baseball, build friendships, and connect with their community. The program focuses on inclusion, fun, and participation, ensuring every child can enjoy America’s favorite pastime without restrictions or pressure.
Unlike traditional leagues, no tryouts or practices are required; the emphasis is on creating a supportive and welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to participate. Games are designed to be accessible and enjoyable, lasting one hour or two innings, and every child is celebrated with an award for their participation.
Promoting Safety with Expert Coaching and Proper Equipment
Safety and accessibility are top priorities. Games are played with Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) baseballs, which are softer than standard baseballs to minimize the risk of injury. All necessary equipment is provided except for gloves, and every player receives a uniform. While metal cleats are prohibited for safety reasons, players are welcome to wear footwear with rubber soles or specialized medical shoes.
The season typically begins in the spring, running for nine weeks, with games held each Saturday. The program is funded entirely by generous sponsors, local businesses, and community members. In the spirit of fun and inclusivity, official scores are not kept; however, teams are encouraged to track runs and defensive outs to help coaches and players see progress throughout the season.
Families can find the official schedule and registration details on the Field of Dreams website.
