Preventing Hunger and Fostering Long-Term Stability
Supported by a strong network of religious institutions, local businesses, individuals, and community organizations, the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) is a safety net for working and low-income residents living or working in Jacksonville’s beach communities and Ponte Vedra Beach. Founded in 1985 by local church leaders responding to an urgent need for coordinated emergency support, BEAM has grown into a trusted and comprehensive resource for neighbors facing economic hardship.
Central to BEAM’s mission is its unwavering commitment to preventing hunger and fostering long-term stability for needy families. With the support of dedicated volunteers, BEAM operates two client-choice food pantries in Jacksonville Beach and Mayport. These pantries are thoughtfully stocked with nutritious staples, including fresh, organic produce harvested from BEAM’s own Grace Garden. This service helps individuals and families supplement their groceries during financial strain, offering enough food to sustain each household member for up to four days.
Elgibility
Depending on availability, clients are welcome to visit the pantry once every three weeks and may also request essential hygiene and care items. To qualify for food pantry assistance, individuals must live within BEAM’s service area, which includes parts of Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach, and provide proof of residency, such as a lease agreement, utility bill, or bank statement, along with valid identification.
