Partnering to Make Fresh Food Accessible for All

Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) is a Feeding Florida program that combats hunger across the state by increasing access to healthy, nutritious foods. This program helps ensure that individuals and families can afford fresh fruits, vegetables, and other essential food items, promoting better nutrition and well-being.

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market is proud to participate in the Fresh Access Bucks program to make food accessible to all. Through this program, individuals and families who use SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits can purchase wholesome, locally grown products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheese, meats, and more.

This initiative fosters a more inclusive and sustainable food system in which everyone can enjoy the benefits of high-quality food while contributing to the vitality of regional agriculture.

SNAP Benefits and Registration

Participation does not require pre-registration. Visitors should stop by the SNAP booth within the market to get started. They must have a SNAP or EBT card to receive Fresh Access Bucks valued up to $40.00 per visit. This amount can then be used to shop with vendors offering Florida-made products such as bread, jam, milk, nuts, vegetables, coffee beans, tea, honey, seeds, meat, and poultry.

Creating Lasting Impact for Citizens and Community Alike

Since 2013, Fresh Access Bucks has worked closely with Feeding Florida to support individuals, farmers, and community members nationwide. Increasing access to fresh, nutritious produce, Fresh Access Bucks addresses hunger and nutrition challenges through a collaborative and community-driven approach.

By establishing direct partnerships with local farmers, farmers markets, nonprofit organizations, grocery stores, food pantries, and nutrition networks, Fresh Access Bucks builds a robust support system that spans 33 counties across Florida. The Fresh Access Bucks program at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market is just one local market representing one part of a much larger statewide initiative.

These efforts have resulted in over 64 million meal deliveries, injected more than $6.8 million into Florida’s agricultural economy, and facilitated access to over $17 million in federal nutrition benefits. This integrated model reflects Fresh Access Bucks’ mission to nourish families, strengthen local economies, and create lasting, positive change throughout Florida.

Mission Statement

More than 2.8 million Floridians annually use SNAP to help put food on the table, but still struggle to make ends meet. FAB's approach to addressing food access, affordability, and nutrition education aims to work with the entire food system to build healthy, resilient communities supported by robust local food systems.

FAB supports families. It promotes better nutrition, stretches families' food budgets, and brings healthy foods within the reach of all Floridians. FAB supports farmers. It creates new markets and revenue streams for Florida farmers and producers. FAB supports communities. It increases local food purchasing and strengthens community investment in local economies while building a more resilient food system, from farm to fork.

Fresh Access Bucks is a Feeding Florida program that works to solve hunger throughout the state. FAB provides a dollar-for-dollar match for fresh, Florida-grown fruits and vegetables when SNAP-eligible foods are purchased.
