Fun Coast Down Syndrome Association

A welcoming community that fosters confidence, connections, and personal development for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families.

Offering Educational Support for Individuals and Families Living with Down Syndrome

Founded in 2002, the Fun Coast Down Syndrome Association serves individuals and families across Flagler, Putnam, Volusia, and St. Johns counties. The organization empowers people with Down syndrome by providing educational resources, hosting special events, and advocating for inclusion, acceptance, and equal opportunities.

Among its many educational offerings, the association provides information about dental health concerns common among individuals with Down syndrome. Topics covered include malformed, missing, or impacted teeth; jaw development issues; difficulties with chewing; periodontal disease; and an increased risk of cavities.

Additionally, the association offers valuable guidance for dental professionals, such as practical tips for working with patients who have exceptionalities and recommendations for safe and effective sedation techniques.

Supporting Creative Expression and Fine Motor Development

Beyond educational support, the Fun Coast Down Syndrome Association fosters social connection, personal growth, and emotional well-being through engaging community programs. These initiatives create inclusive, welcoming environments where individuals with Down syndrome and their families can form meaningful friendships, build confidence, and celebrate their unique talents.

Participants can explore their creativity through arts and crafts sessions, which encourage self-expression and fine motor skills. Cooking classes provide hands-on opportunities to learn valuable life skills while promoting independence and healthy habits. Dance classes inspire movement, coordination, and joy, helping participants stay active in a fun, social setting.

The association hosts game and movie nights, where families and individuals can relax, laugh, and bond over shared experiences. In addition to these regular activities, seasonal events, themed parties, and special outings further strengthen the sense of community and belonging.

Every program aims to create a safe, supportive space where all individuals feel valued, included, and empowered to thrive.
