Nurturing a Stronger Connection to the Region's Natural Beauty
Established in 1926, the Garden Club of St. Augustine is a longstanding non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the community through a shared love of gardening and the natural world. For nearly a century, the club has upheld its mission to educate and inspire the public in both the art and science of gardening, promote environmental stewardship through accessible programs, raise funds for community-focused initiatives, and enhance the region’s beauty through meaningful collaborations with local groups and civic organizations.
Its members, ranging from first-time gardeners to highly experienced horticultural enthusiasts, come together with a common goal: to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the area’s unique and abundant natural landscape. Through hands-on involvement, shared learning, and a spirit of volunteerism, the club continues to foster a lasting connection between residents and the environment that surrounds them.
Supporting the Next Generation of Environmental Stewards
One of the club’s most impactful initiatives is its scholarship program, which provides financial support to young adults pursuing careers in landscaping, forestry, horticulture, environmental science, and related fields. By investing in the next generation of green-industry professionals, the Garden Club helps ensure that the region’s natural resources will be thoughtfully preserved and responsibly managed for years to come.
Providing Workshops on Plant Selection and Landscape Design
Residents are encouraged to expand their gardening knowledge and connect with fellow enthusiasts through a variety of workshops, demonstrations, and special events. To further support community involvement, the club hosts free public meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m., located at 3440 Old Moultrie Road, St. Augustine, Florida, 32086.
In addition, official members may participate in the Floralines Guild, which meets on the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Both meeting series run from September through May at the same location, providing ongoing opportunities for education, fellowship, and creative expression.
