- Supports clients who need a safer living environment, smaller or shared spaces, or relocation due to separation, divorce, or lease expiration
Promoting Stability, Health, and Well-Being
Since its founding in 1998, the Northeast Florida AIDS Network (NFAN) has served as a source of support and advocacy for individuals living with HIV and AIDS throughout Northeast Florida. Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA), helps individuals maintain safe and stable housing by assisting with rent, mortgage, or utility payments. These services are essential for preventing evictions, utility shutoffs, and homelessness.
Offering Short-Term and Long-Term Solutions For Those In Need
The Short-Term Rent, Mortgage, and Utilities Assistance (STRMU) program provides temporary financial support to individuals facing short-term challenges. NFAN can assist for up to five months within 12 months to help clients cover water, electricity, and other critical utility costs. It is important to note, however, that STRMU cannot cover bills that are already overdue or prevent evictions once they have been served.
For individuals seeking longer-term housing solutions, the Permanent Housing Placement (PHP) program provides support for security deposits, lease initiation, or locating affordable housing. PHP also assists clients who may need to move due to safety concerns, relationship changes such as separation or divorce, or a need for smaller or shared living spaces.
This program ensures that individuals can secure stable, safe, and suitable housing that meets their current needs.
