Meeting the Distinct Challenges of People with Exceptionalities
Founded in 1953, New Heights of Northeast Florida has been a cornerstone of support for children and adults with disabilities across Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties. The organization addresses the unique challenges associated with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, spina bifida, brain injuries, and other physical and developmental conditions.
Promoting Learning and Connection in a Safe, Supportive Space
Backed by a compassionate team of licensed professionals, support staff, and volunteers, New Heights provides programs and services that promote independence, skill development, and inclusion. Among its services is the Adult Day Training (ADT) program, which is designed for adults ages 18 and older who have been diagnosed with a disability. The program focuses on building life skills while also offering training in computer literacy and fitness. Participants benefit not only from structured learning opportunities but also from meaningful connections with their peers in a safe and supportive setting.
In addition to day training, New Heights offers therapy services provided by licensed professionals. These include speech, occupational, and developmental therapy, which are tailored to the needs of each individual. To ensure accessibility, therapy can be delivered either in person or virtually, allowing participants and families to choose the format that works best for them. For more information about the ADT program or the therapy program, families can call (904) 917-9899.
Transportation is another service offered by New Heights. Wheelchair-accessible vans enable participants to travel to programs and activities safely and comfortably, thereby eliminating one of the biggest barriers to consistent participation. For more information, please call (904) 228-0481.
