Strengthening Community Connections and Promoting Local Events and Activities
The St. Augustine South Improvement Association (SASIA) was officially founded on December 11, 1957, to make homeownership more accessible and affordable for residents. Over the years, SASIA has evolved into a volunteer-led community organization dedicated to strengthening neighborhood ties and sharing information about local events, activities, and concerns. In addition, SASIA partners with local businesses and government agencies to further support the needs and well-being of the St. Augustine South community.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, except in July and August, and take place at the SASIA Clubhouse. These meetings provide residents with the opportunity to discuss neighborhood topics, learn about upcoming projects, and engage with guest speakers who share valuable insights about the community and beyond.
Member Benefits
Residents of the St. Augustine South community are encouraged to become members of SASIA by completing an application online, by mail, or in person. Membership offers individuals the opportunity to play an active role in shaping their community while enjoying a range of benefits. These include voting rights for the Board of Directors and Officers, access to volunteer opportunities, exclusive discounts, and eligibility for SASIA scholarships. These scholarships assist high school students with fees related to pursuing higher education, continuing SASIA’s mission of supporting families.
In addition to its civic focus, SASIA organizes community events throughout the year, such as the Annual Spring Festival, Arts and Crafts Fair, Fall Festival, Holiday Celebrations, and the popular Plant Swap. The Clubhouse also hosts donation-based programs that promote health, wellness, and social engagement.
Residents can take part in yoga and dance classes, square dancing, sound baths, meditation, and other recreational activities. The Clubhouse also features amenities such as parking, a pavilion, picnic areas, a tot lot, play fields, and a community garden.
Clubhouse Rental for Special Events
Beyond its role as a community gathering place, the Clubhouse is also available for rent at affordable rates. It provides an ideal setting for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, meetings, and other special occasions. Tables and chairs are included; however, renters are responsible for setting up, breaking down, and cleaning up after their event, ensuring the space remains inviting for everyone.
