Safeguarding the Health and Well-Being of People and their Pets

The St. Johns County Pet Center offers low-cost services to support pet owners in the local community. These services include microchipping, grooming, boarding, quarantine, surrender, and euthanasia, all aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare. The Center works closely with St. Johns County Animal Control, aligning with its mission to protect people and animals by ensuring their safety and well-being.

The Pet Center provides medical evaluations and treatment administered by experienced veterinary technicians as part of its intake process. In addition, the Center supplies pet food and care for animals during their stay. Animals that are surrendered to the Pet Center are thoroughly assessed and prepared for adoption. Once ready for rehoming, pets are matched with new families by appointment-only adoption services, ensuring thoughtful placements and successful transitions into new homes.

Prioritizing Adoption and Rehoming

In addition to on-site adoptions at the Pet Center, families can also find adoptable pets at partner retail locations throughout St. Augustine. These include Pet Supermarket, located at 1020 S. Ponce De Leon Blvd., and PetSmart, located at 1779 US Highway 1. These partnerships increase the visibility of adoptable animals and help more pets find loving homes throughout the county.

While the Center prioritizes adoption and rehoming, it also provides compassionate services for pet surrenders and end-of-life care, including euthanasia, when necessary. These sensitive services are offered by appointment only to ensure each case receives the attention, care, and dignity it deserves.
