Honoring Every Life with Dignity, Even After Death

The St. Johns County Indigent and Unclaimed Cremations Program ensures that all deceased individuals are laid to rest with compassion. This program serves two primary groups: individuals whose household income falls below 150% of the federal poverty level, and those who have passed away without any family members or legally responsible persons to claim their remains.

Eligibility Requirements

To determine eligibility for the St. Johns County Indigent and Unclaimed Cremations Program, the deceased's family members or legal guardians must provide specific documentation verifying their identity and financial status.

Applicants must submit a valid form of personal identification, such as a driver's license or state-issued ID. They must also provide a photocopy of the deceased's Social Security card, and documentation related to the deceased's financial status.

This includes all bank account statements and proof of income for the month before the individual's passing.

Mission Statement

The mission of the St. Johns County Social Services is to reduce social and economic dependency by providing a bridge of interim assistance and other available services to qualified individuals and families who are residents of St. Johns County.
