Covering Past-Due Rent and Utility Bills
The Limited Rent and Utility Assistance Program is available for St. Johns County residents with a documented financial crisis. Proof of ongoing sustainability will need to be provided. The program's primary objective is to help eligible residents maintain stable housing by covering past-due rent and utility bills, thereby preventing eviction, homelessness, and the disruption of services such as electricity.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must be residents of St. Johns County and demonstrate a temporary inability to meet housing or utility obligations due to job loss, medical emergencies, natural disasters, or other unforeseen events. Proof of income and supporting documentation are required. Assistance is limited to once every 18 months per household.
Applicants must provide valid identification, such as a Social Security number, driver's license, or a St. Johns County ID card. Additional required documents include a copy of the applicant's lease, past-due utility bills, and, if applicable, a three-day notice from the landlord. Applications are available online on their website.
