Delivering Timely Disaster Relief
Active since 2015 and serving as a coordinated disaster response and recovery network for St. Johns County, the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and Long-Term Recovery Organization (VOAD/LTRO) brings together partners to deliver timely and effective disaster relief and assistance, particularly in response to hurricanes and other emergencies affecting the area. Through this collaborative structure, VOAD/LTRO leverages the collective skills, resources, experience, and specialized knowledge of its member organizations to ensure a rapid, organized, and compassionate response.
The network functions as a unified system of care that strengthens coordination among service providers, reduces duplication of effort, and enhances the overall efficiency of disaster operations.
Supporting Education, Planning Exercises, and Recovery
VOAD/LTRO services span the full disaster cycle. In preparedness, the organization supports exercises and educational programs. During response, VOAD/LTRO helps organize and mobilize resources, volunteers, and services. In the recovery phase, member organizations work together to help survivors rebuild their homes, restore stability, and reconnect with services.
Finally, through mitigation efforts, VOAD/LTRO supports strategies and improves community preparedness for future disasters.
