Supporting Residents in Staying Housed and Keeping Utilities Connected
BEAM (The Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry) prevents homelessness by offering support services to families facing financial hardship. One of its core programs provides emergency financial assistance to cover overdue rent and utility bills, helping residents remain in their homes and avoid service disconnection.
Providing Personalized Support to Meet Individual Needs
BEAM partners with utility providers to help clients avoid service disconnections by negotiating payment plans or covering past-due balances, often preventing late fees and penalties. Eligible individuals can request utility assistance once per year and will meet with a financial assistance volunteer to receive personalized guidance based on their unique circumstances.
In addition, clients may consult with a financial counselor to learn about budgeting, credit repair, and saving strategies. BEAM also offers support with applications for public benefits such as Medicaid and SNAP, further helping families stabilize and regain financial security.
Elgibility
To qualify for services, applicants must reside within BEAM's service area and provide valid identification, a Social Security card for each household member, proof of income and financial need, and a lease listing them as leaseholders or occupants. For more information, please call BEAM directly or email them here.
