Offering free, support programs ranging from housing, food, and case management to wellness retreats, entrepreneurship training, advocacy, and lifelong personal and professional development.

Empowering Women Veterans Throughout Florida

Formerly Northeast Florida Women Veterans, Women Veterans Ignited serves as a free resource that connects women veterans throughout Florida with programs that help them to share their experiences, create a legacy, and access various programs designed to empower, educate, and ensure continued success. Their specific programs include advocacy and community outreach, HerTotalWellness, Operation Handup, access to food pantries, HerSpace, HerTime, HerBiz, and HerHealthyLife.

Advocacy and Wellness

Women Veterans Ignited's advocacy and community outreach program includes activities that help veterans rebuild social connections and receive assistance. Specific services and events include food distribution programs, homeless veteran stand-downs, Women Veterans Recognition Week activities, Veterans Day and Memorial Day events, volunteer opportunities, and more. HerTotalWellness is a program that provides personal and professional development for women veterans that focuses on physical health (Body), mental and emotional well-being (Mind), and economic empowerment. The program provides workshops and training on employment preparation, goal setting and journaling, VA claims and benefits, time management, transition challenges, nutrition and wellness, self-care, financial fitness, stress management, entrepreneurship and career options, resource navigation, dress-for-success skills, and suicide prevention.

Participants also engage in wellness activities such as yoga, therapeutic art, mindfulness, and other self-care workshops. Additional benefits include access to women-veteran-specific resources, networking with expert facilitators, peer support through a women veterans sisterhood, ongoing professional development opportunities, and participation in an alumnae network with retreat opportunities after graduation.

The program is designed to help women veterans build self-sufficiency, improve overall well-being, strengthen career readiness, increase financial literacy, and connect with a supportive community of fellow veterans. Classes are offered in virtual, hybrid, and in-person settings.

Access to Case Management and Food

Operation HandUP is a supportive services program for women veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The program provides individualized case management, financial assistance, transportation assistance, access to a food and dry goods pantry, and household supplies to help participants address immediate needs, achieve housing stability, and work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

The program’s food pantry is available to registered clients on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Clients must complete registration with the Client Navigator team before receiving assistance. Housing and Retreat Opportunities

 A program created through a two-story, 3,000-square-foot home featuring four bedrooms and accommodations for up to six women veterans and their children, HerSpace provides temporary housing for those in need. The program offers short-term housing and case management services to help individuals secure permanent housing. For more information, please visit here. HerTIME is a free 3-day, 2-night retreat that supports women veterans experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and other challenges. The program focuses on improving mental health and strengthening suicide prevention efforts.

Therapeutic art activities, positive affirmation exercises, nature-based healing experiences, peer support, and opportunities for reflection help participants reduce stress, reconnect with themselves, develop healthy coping strategies, and build supportive relationships. Business Training and Information on Healthy Living

HerBIZ is a free 4-month entrepreneurship and business development program designed to help women veterans achieve greater economic success through education, mentorship, and guidance. Participants receive training on developing a business plan, information on credit building and repair, and information on the business registration process.

HerHealthyLife combines workshops, education, and guided activities to teach participants about health and nutrition. It also ensures that participants know about how food affects the body, provides information on sleep management, stress management, and other techniques to help to promote recovery.
