Safe Shelter for Families Experiencing Homelessness
The Goff Family Shelter provides emergency housing and supportive services for families experiencing homelessness in St. Johns County. Located in St. Augustine’s historic Lincolnville neighborhood, the newly completed facility offers families a safe and supportive place to stay while they work toward securing permanent housing.
The shelter features nine private family rooms with a total of 37 beds, allowing parents and children to remain together during a challenging period. In addition to providing a safe place to sleep, the facility offers meals, daily necessities, advocacy, referrals, and connections to community resources.
A New Resource for Families in Need
The Goff Family Shelter was created through a partnership between the St. Augustine Society and the City of St. Augustine, with support from federal Community Development Block Grant funding. The project transformed the building at 64 Washington Street into a modern emergency shelter while restoring a property that had sustained significant hurricane damage. The shelter is part of the campus of St. Francis House.
St. Augustine Society, Inc., operates a range of homeless assistance programs at St. Francis House in addition to the Goff Family Shelter: The Housing Crisis Center, Port in the Storm, and Street Outreach Services (SOS).
